Bid Segmentation
With the final bid, the structural plans are returned to the contractor with each component of the bid highlighted in a different color. Each color corresponds to a specific bid category and each bid category will provide volumes of structural concrete or areas of slabs along with pricing. The contractor will know exactly what is bid along with cost breakouts and will have full confidence that the project has been looked at (and thought about) in detail.
Increased Project Efficiency
During the take-off process, Kaliber will often note issues with the design or changes that might result in cost savings or increased project efficiency. These are related to the general contractor, but following this Kaliber willingly communicates directly with the engineer or architect/designer to determine common sense solutions. This, of course, saves enormous time and cost for everyone versus “discovering” these matters down the line during construction.
Pricing Components
Once bids are accepted, Kaliber issues their own proposal to the general contractor. The contracts are specific about prices of each component assembly, what is included and excluded, who is responsible for what, how change orders are handled, and how payment will proceed. Kaliber can be flexible in most instances to meet the requirements of a specific project.
